What to Wear for Summer Family Photos: Keep It Cool and Coordinated
Summer sessions in The Woodlands and surrounding areas are full of sunshine, wild greenery, and glowing evening light, basically a photographer’s dream! But one of the biggest questions I get as your family photographer is: “What should we wear?”
Here’s a little guide to help you keep it cool and coordinated for your summer family photo session:
Think Light and Breezy
The Texas heat is no joke, especially in July and August. Choose lightweight fabrics like linen, cotton, or chambray. These breathe well and photograph beautifully without the shine or stiffness of synthetic materials.
Color Palette Inspiration
For summer family photos, I love seeing soft, natural tones. Think ivory, light blue, dusty pink, sage green, and tan. These colors not only pop against the lush summer greenery, but they also keep things light and airy.
Coordinating vs. Matching
Instead of putting everyone in the same exact outfit (hello, 90s denim!), aim for a complementary color palette. It helps everyone look unified without being overly “matchy matchy.” Mix patterns and textures for extra visual interest, just keep it subtle.
Comfort is Key
Choose outfits that allow you and your kiddos to move, sit, and snuggle with ease. Trust me comfortable families are happy families, and that joy comes through in every image.
Whether you’re booking your session in Spring, Conroe, Houston, or The Woodlands, I can help with styling and feel amazing in front of the camera.
