Woodlands Family Photographer | Mommy and Me Session

Having a daughter is such a special experience for many moms. Even if our personalities or looks differ, daughters often remind us a little of ourselves during childhood. Watching them play and grow allows us to relive the joys of the simpler aspects of life like picking flowers, swinging at the playground, dressing up in princess dresses, and singing made up songs at the top of our lungs. There’s no one way to be little girl—some prefer jumping in mud puddles while others like tea parties—but their vibrant personalities make them so uniquely beautiful and precious.

about this session with Autumn

Lauren and Autumn came in for Autumn’s 5th birthday shoot. They opted for a more natural, outdoorsy theme with the life-sized floral hoop wreath, perfect for Spring photos. Since Autumn is growing up so fast, they wanted to do some Mommy and Me shots as well. I always encourage moms to get at least one or two shots with their girls, even if they feel a little silly at first. As moms, we’re always the ones taking the pictures, but very rarely do we take (or rather find) time to get in on the photos ourselves. But capturing these moments together and the close bonds we have with our children is so very important—something we’ll wish we took time for as the years go on.

These two beautiful ladies were truly a pleasure to photograph. Autumn is the sweetest girl and has the most beautiful hair! She looked like a real-life princess sitting there delicately encircled with flowers. With her huge five-year milestone coming up in November, her mom wanted to capture the sweetness of this stage before she no longer wants to wear frill princess dresses, and I think these photos came out beautifully.
