Vintage Truck Mini Sessions in The Woodlands

Vintage Truck Mini Sessions in The Woodlands

There’s something nostalgic about an old vintage truck, especially with adorable kiddos filling the back as they climb on the wheel hubs, dangle their little feet off the tailgate, and wrestle on a blanket spread out for watching the sun set. I think back to my own childhood. During the long summer days, there was nothing better than sipping some lemonade with friends on the tailgate beneath a shady oak tree. And in the winter, we’d all climb in with a bunch of cozy blankets, sometimes in front of a warm campfire. We’d just chat and laugh until our parents told us it was time to come inside. I guess that’s why the vintage truck theme has been so popular. It’s so reminiscent of those carefree days.

2018 was actually the first year I’ve done Vintage Truck Mini Sessions in Spring, Tx, and they were a huge hit! We found the most amazing old teal-colored truck, and my clients were adorable as always. I enjoyed getting to see some old faces (wow, these kiddos grow so fast!), and I met some new ones, too! To match the teal vintage look, we added some farmhouse-style props: crates, burlap, Christmas-themed feed sacks, holiday wreaths—the whole shabang. And you can’t have Christmas pictures without a little plaid, so I added a snuggly blanket for the kids to sit on. I love how they came out—so classic!

Here were the details of these sessions:

I have a feeling that these fun Christmastime mini sessions will become a tradition. They definitely put me in the Christmas spirit. Can’t wait to see all these cuties and their families next year!

The Woodlands Tx Family Session | The Hendersons

    The Woodlands Tx Family Session

Sometimes the places we see every day provide the best backdrops for family portraits. A backyard photo session or a day at the park not only offers the comfort of familiarity for little ones during the shoot, but these are the places that hold the most memories for us. They create amazing memoirs. We can look back on the photos years from now and tell our kids, “This is the park we used to visit. You loved to feed the ducks there, and when you got older, this is where you learned to fish!” One of the things I love most about being a mostly-outdoor photographer is that you don’t have to go much past your doorstep to see the beauty of nature.

This sweet family was a dream

So, when Karen contacted me to take photos of her sweet family at their local Creekside Pondera Park, I couldn’t wait to get started. Their two sweet boys, William and Christopher, were so handsome! They know this park well, so they had a blast exploring their stomping grounds and showing me all of their favorite spots (and favorite leaves, and favorite rocks).  Oh, how I wish I still had the energy of a preschooler. I love how they find even the most ordinary things extraordinary. Every uncovered rock is another piece of treasure to add to the collection. William made sure to let me know that he LOVES Legos…but he might love riding his bike even more. And Christopher loves playing Batman and building (and I’m sure deconstructing his brother’s Lego creations sometimes).

Needless to say, this session was so much fun. The boys kept giving me their best smiles as they ventured around the small pond. And to top it off, a perfect sunset lit up the backdrop with a shy peak of sunshine at the end.

Christmas Tree Farm Sessions 2018 | Houston Family Photographer

Christmas Tree Farm Sessions 2018 | Houston Family Photographer

I don’t know about you, but nothing smells more like Christmas than a fresh-cut fir tree. When deciding which kinds of mini sessions to offer for the holidays, I thought it might be fun to try out a local Christmas Tree Farm. This was my first year offering Tree Farm Minis, and not knowing quite what to expect, I ended up booking three full days at the farm! Oh. My. Gosh. These were a bigger hit than I could have anticipated. And after doing the first few, I could see why. The vibrant green trees created a stunning backdrop for all of these smiling faces. Plus, the kiddos had an absolute blast running between the rows of trees, giggling ecstatically when we popped out to surprise them.

If your little one has trouble showing his pearly whites in front of the camera, this is a great session to book. The setting feels so natural, and there is plenty of space to explore, so they won’t feel so much pressure. I’ve never had so many genuine smiles from kids before! Their joy was contagious, and I had just as much fun capturing these family photos as they did posing for them.

I really enjoyed seeing so many returning clients and their sweet families, but I also had the honor of meeting so many new ones, too! I was a little apprehensive about how crowded the farm might be, but the rows of trees created perfect little niches for private photos. I am definitely looking forward to doing these again next year!

        The Woodlands Bluebonnet Mini Sessions

        Annual Woodlands Bluebonnet Mini Sessions

Springtime in Texas is truly a sight to behold. Depending on where you are in the state, wildflowers show off their short-lived beauty along every highway, open field, and serene pasture from mid-march to early-June. The Indian paintbrushes, Mexican hats, buttercups, and sunflowers are spectacular enough to draw crowds from all over. But the most well-known flower of them all—the crown jewel of Texas—is the bluebonnet. Thanks to Lady Bird Johnson who took charge of the Highway Beautification Act and planted native seeds along state highways, fields of blue span as far as the eye can see. There’s no arguing that spring is the best time for a relaxing Texas road trip.

I know you have seen families pulled over on the side of the road trying to take family pictures, but I think this long-standing Texas tradition calls for some professional photos. I’d love to capture those sweet moments for you as your kids play among the petals. As a natural light photographer, this is my expertise!

Family Photographer in The Woodlands | A Golden Afternoon

What a beautiful family this was! I love spending time with such incredible people as these as their Family Photographer in The Woodlands. They are some of the sweetest and kind folks I have had the pleasure of working with, and my time spent with them was nothing short of amazing! Family sessions are some of my favorites, because I love working with kiddos! Alina (5 years old) and Nael (little brother) were simply precious and full of energy! They seemed to have a blast during our session, which always makes for adorable photos.

A Gorgeous Afternoon with a Gorgeous Family

Mom and Dad, Nameer and Sana, contacted me to take photos of their sweet family, and we decided to go exploring outside to do so. We ended up in a field filled with trees and fallen leaves. The season of Autumn is so pretty, filled with orange and red colors everywhere. It truly makes for a beautiful background for a family session! Alina and Nael had a blast while throwing leaves and watching them fall. One of my favorite photos was one where little Alina tossed them as high as she could throw them. Her expression was the cutest, and I love that we were able to capture a little bit of her personality! She is a very smart girl, knowing two languages, Urdu and English. She is full of curiosity, asking a ton of questions! It was so fun getting to know her. Her brother, Nael was also an active little one. He loved being outside, so he also enjoyed the day! He found a few pine-cones that sparked his curiosity, isn’t he so stinkin’ cute!?

          The Love of a Family

Nameer and Sana were beautiful together, and I loved seeing the joy and love in their eyes as they watched their kids play. They were precious as they stood with their little ones, all snuggled together. All in all, we had a beautiful Autumn day. I am so honored to have been able to capture such sweet moments for this family. I hope to work with them again in the future!
